Waterfowl

Perhaps you can find birds anywhere. Except ducks, you better add water. Leonardo da Vinci was spot-on when he said, “Water is the driving force of all nature.” And ducks tell us so. Their history reveals how flocks once darkened the sky. Today, their absence and the condemnation of wetlands highlight our environmental apathy. So, when I can photograph waterfowl- ducks, geese, gallinules; I am finding hope that they are on the rise. But my worst nightmare: that I am staging my camera on the shores of the last puddle of water.
