If you have ever been around hummingbirds, a family of songbirds, you already know they are precision flyers, never running into each other, extracting nectar from a quarry of flowers in deliberate synchrony. Their energy is confirmed by their audible wing beat- a humming dynamo. I have heard that they may have the largest brain to body ratio among all bird life; inferring they are both brilliant and bright. Most of this gallery I shot in Columbia, South America. By their acrobatics and iridescent glow, we become captive to their hyper-speed and species diversity, unique in form and function. These hummers are shot in their native habitats, up close, so you can see how incredible beauty is arranged into a festooned rocket.
