Restoration of ghost orchid (Dendrophylax lindenii) populations is attempted by weaving lab-grown plant roots among the threads of a patch of burlap, then stapling it to a pop ash tree. It is one of the rarest and most coveted of all North American wild orchids. It is an endangered epiphyte, growing on trees in relatively deep swamps in southwest Florida.
