Orchids

This collection focuses on Florida orchids, the state that supports more species than any other. These delicate, incredibly unique plants have captivated my eye for more than 30 years. Their showy appearance belies their unique and fascinating life history. I spent many years cultivating and funding research to guide their propagation and restoration, through which I have worked with expert scientists like Dr. Mike Kane and Dr. Larry Zettler. Please forgive me for presenting so many Ghost Orchids. It is only found in south Florida, a highly endangered leafless orchid. What's more, finding one in bloom, only growing on trees in the swamps above the water line, requires a deep dive, often literally.
